Kuusamo is an area famous for its great lakes and woodlands. For the locals, fishing has always played an important part in everyday life as well as in times of celebration. The excitement of examining traps and nets and finding out what the catch of the day is – this is what the Finnish way of looking at the world is made up of. Lake Piskamojärvi is known of its whitefish, but in wintertime the Chef has high hopes to find a fair catch of pike, perch, roach, and burbot from his nets.
Our Catch of the Day Cooking Course is built up from two activities. The fishing trip is separately chosen from the selection of local fishing guides or activities companies. The cooking is done at Studio Restaurant Tundra with the assistance of Chef Jarmo Pitkänen. The Chef is happy to help in finding a suitable fishing trip for the start of this interesting day spent in the world of Nordic freshwater fish cuisine.
The duration of the fishing programme 2-3 hours, depending on the season and the selected fishing method.
